Grab yourself a bargain at the Academy Library book sale beginning the 24th of November! We are selling a range of books withdrawn from stock which include older editions of popular medical textbooks. All books are priced at £1.00 or 5 for £4. Stock will be replenished daily!

Literature searching service available from the Academy Library

Do you need a literature search?
The Academy Library will do your literature search for you within 48 hours of receipt. The service is free and is available to all clinical and non-clinical staff at UHSM.
You can request a search using the online form available form the library webpage or intranet page, or by clicking here.

4,000 e-books now available

July 10, 2014

4,000 e-books have been added to the Academy Library catalogue. To access the catalogue, click here.

The e-books are provided by Springer who are giving all NHS employees free full-text access until October 2014. The collection is available in the Trust without the need to login. Outside the Trust, just click on sign in, select NHS as the institution and then enter your Athens userame and password.

Access to 40,000 + e-books

As part of the project, Springer are also giving all NHS employees free full-text access to over 40,000 e-books until October 2014.
To access the collection:
1.  Click here and choose *Sign up/Log in* from the menu bar at the top right of the page

2. Choose Institutional/Athens login*

3. From the dropdown list under *Log in via Athens* choose *NHS*  then *Proceed to Athens*.

24 hour access is here!

The Academy Library is now open 24 hours. You will need to have your Trust ID activated by a member of staff in order to use the self-service machine.

The Self Service machine is located within the Academy Library and uses RFID (Radio-frequency identification) technology. This will allow readers to issue, return and renew Library items themselves. Instructions are displayed and the Library Team will be on hand for assistance.
